Kids from all over the Enniscorthy area had a ball recently as they attended a special Summer Camp at the Gaelscoil in Drumgoold over four days.

Organised by local councillor John O'Rourke, the event was aimed at children aged between five and thirteen and saw them engage in a jam-packed programme of activities.

The youngsters got to try their hand at all manner of sporting activities from hurling and soccer to rounders and even dodgeball.

The week culminated in a very special trip to Secret Valley Wildlife Park in Clonroche. During the trip the kids got to get up close and personal with all manner of fascinating creatures.

They were in luck on the day as their arrival coincided with the arrival of a new group of monkeys that had been brought to the park from Holland, causing great excitement among the group.

Some of the other animals seen were raccoons, foxes, meerkats, prairie dogs, skunk, rabbits, guinea pics, chinchilla, ferrets, rats, hedgehogs, reptiles and llamas.

Cllr O'Rourke wished to thank Wexford County Council for all their support of the camp. He also extended heartful thanks to Judy Heffernan and the Board of Management at the Gaelscoil for the use of their facilities and the volunteer coaches.

The next camp will take place at Halloween.
