Enniscorthy Active Retirement Association has presented a number of cheques to local community based organisations.

The money was handed over at the association's Annual General Meeting which was held in the Riverside Park Hotel.

A cheque for €2,000 was presented to Lulu Hiney for the Alzheimer unit at St John's Community Hospital. Maudie Maher, from Wexford Hospice Homecare, was the recipient, on behalf of her organisation, of a similar €2,000 cheque.

The two other recipient organisations that received money included Wexford Women's Refuge, represented by Pauline Ennis, Angela Hore and Mary Millar, which was presented with €700 and Wexford Community Workshop which received €2,000.

All of the organisations presented thanked the association's members for their generosity and they highlighted that the money will be put to very good use.
