A local women's social group has raised money for one of the county's most respected community support organisations.

The 21+Vat group raised €340 for Wexford Women's Refuge (WWR) and the money was presented to Mary O'Neill, from WWR, at a ceremony in the Waterfront Swimming pool in Enniscorthy where the group meets.

Speaking to this newspaper the group leader, Chloe Breen-Kavanagh (22), said the money was donated from a raffle organised as part of the group's annual Christmas party.

'This is the third year they've raised money for Wexford Women's Refuge and they were delighted to do it, as they are each year,' she said.

'They do aqua-aerobics here each week and then they have tea and a chat,' she added.

'It's like a social group for them and they're a great bunch of people.'
