Harry and Maureen mark 50 years of marriage
Love was most definitely in the air at the Holy Grail on Valentine's Night as local couple Harry and Maureen Thackaberry gathered with family and friends to mark a fabulous fifty years of wedded bliss!!
The inseparable pair are both from Monageer originally and it didn't take long before they caught each other's eye and they were married on Valentine's Day in 1968. Harry would have worked as a farmer and the pair would've put a lot of hard work into the enterprise over the years. It was never a case of 'all work and no play' though and Harry and Maureen could regularly be seen at dances around the county. They are still huge fans of country music to this day and frequently can be seen strutting their stuff on the dancefloor.
'They are incredibly close,' said nephew Sean Donohoe. 'It was always just the two of them together and they go everywhere and do everything together. Even after the party, they were off to The Ashdown in Gorey for a country night that they go to every Wednesday! Everyone had a great night though and we'd like to thank everyone who came along to make the night so special and The Holy Grail for their food and service.'
