Fundraising in style as fashion show hits catwalk for oesophageal cancer research
Enniscorthy's finest fashion offerings were on display at the Riverside Park Hotel last week as local boutiques came together for a special charity fashion show in aid of Oesophageal Cancer Research. The event was the brainchild of Trish Rackard of the Yellow Rose Boutique who lost her husband Willie to oesophageal cancer back in 2014. Ever since, she had been determined not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness for the condition and it was with this in mind that she hosted the glamorous event last Wednesday night.
The evening saw some of Enniscorthy's leading boutiques join forces to show off the very latest of this year's Autumn/Winter trends. The volunteer models strut their stuff in the latest fashions from The Yellow Rose Boutique, Sophie's Choice, Glamour and Ottiva and J'Adore Shoe Boutique were also displaying on the night.
Master of ceremonies Liam Sharkey kept all the ladies in attendance entertained in his own unique style and it was a really enjoyable night for those present.
'We had a fairly good crowd,' Trish said. 'I think there has been a few fashion shows going on lately, so all things considered it was a good night and everyone enjoyed themselves. I had one back in March for Spring/Summer, so I thought it'd be a good idea to do another one for Autumn/Winter. I'd like to thank everyone who came along and donated and also to the girls who work with me in the shop Gabrielle and Carmel for all their help and to Mary and Teresa who worked the door.'
In total the event raised €1,700.
