Enniscorthy to get new bee hotels

Brendan Keane

Enniscorthy is get some new hotels, however, they won't offer any special deals to humans.

Men's Sheds around the county have been contacted by Wexford County Council and asked of they would be interested in building bee [and] bug hotels for prominent sites around the county.

In a report presented to the members of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council at their monthly meeting last week the councillors were told that five new bee hotels are ready to be installed in Enniscorthy town with another one due to be installed in Kilmuckridge.

The hotels will be adorned with Wex Bee aware logos to help raise public awareness about the need to protect the county's biodiversity.

In addition to raising awareness the Wex Bee aware initiative is also aimed at giving practical help and advice on creating bee and other pollinator friendly environments around the county.
