Search for owner of ring - A woman from Enniscorthy is searching for the owner of a ring that she found in the Riverside Park Hotel.

The ring, which is a gold wedding band, was found just a couple of days before St Patrick's Day.

It was bought in a shop in Dublin, which is now closed, and the woman who found it is anxious to get it back to its owner as she feels it might be of huge sentimental value.

Community patrons

The patrons throughout the Enniscorthy town area will take place at the following times and locations: Cherryorchard, Thursday, July 4, at 7 p.m; Presentation Convent, Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m; St Aidan's Cathedral, Sunday, August 11, at 11.50 a.m.

Summer camp

Enniscorthy Christian Fellowship will hold its annual free children's summer camp in Gaelscoil Inis Corthaidh from Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26.

The camp, which is open to children aged between 5 and 12, will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fellowship's free youth summer camp for people aged between 11 and 18 will take place in the Astro Active Centre, Bellefield, from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2.

The camp will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Retirement meeting

The next meeting of Enniscorthy Retirement Association will take place in the Riverside Park Hotel at 2.30 p.m. on July 2.

The society has a busy schedule ahead with some upcoming events, including: a sponsored walk and barbecue on Wednesday, July 10 (all members are invited to the barbecue even if not walking); bus and walk to St Mullin's (Tuesday, July 16); bingo in Loreto Village (Wednesday, July 17); and a race day outing, Saturday, July 27.

Among the other ongoing activities of the association, these include: Mondays - pitch and putt (10 a.m.); Fridays - line-dancing (11 a.m.) and bowls (1 p.m.) at CWCW; Tuesdays - Scrabble (10 a.m.) at astro turf; Wednesdays - riverside walk from the hotel at 11 a.m.; Thursdays: ramblers' walks (meeting at Lidl at 9.30 a.m.).

St Senan's patron

This year's annual patron in St Senan's Cemetery, Enniscorthy, will take place on Wednesday, June 26, at 7 p.m.

All parishioners are invited to attend to remember loved ones who have passed away.

Whist drive

There will be no whist drive for the next few weeks as part of the summer break.

Details of times and dates for the coming season will be published on the noticeboard page prior to the new season beginning.

Pilgrimage places

There are still some places left on the Faith, Friendship and Fun pilgrimage which will take place from the diocese in October.

The pilgrimage will be led by Fr Michael Doyle who is chaplain at Wexford General Hospital.

The pilgrimage will take place from October 4 to 11, and will take in four nights in Medjugorje and three nights in Dubrovnik.

The cost of the trip will be €779 per person.

Soccer coaches

Shamrock Rovers AFC is currently looking for managers for its three adults teams.

The club is one of the most well-known in the district and anyone interested in getting involved is asked to contact the club secretary, John Paul O'Connor, on 087 7628964.

Changes to mass times

New mass times will be introduced in St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy, later this year.

The new timetable will become effective from the weekend of Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1.

That weekend, masses will begin with Saturday vigil at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

St Senan's Church will have Saturday vigil at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Cycle for charity

Ferns Camogie Club will be organising a charity cycle event on July 14. The event is being organised to raise money for the club and also for Temple Street Children's University Hospital.

Further details about the event will be published in this newspaper over the coming weeks.

Fancy volleyball

Friday evenings will see volleyball activities taking place in Galbally.

The games will be held in the village hall between 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The sessions are open to people of all ages and abilities.

Those who are new to the game or just interested in finding out more about it are encouraged to attend the weekly sessions

Tennis open in Hillbrook

Hillbrook Lawn Tennis Club will be hosting the County Wexford Senior Open Tennis Championships between Saturday, July 6, and Saturday, July 13.

The competition will feature singles, doubles and mixed events in all grades.

However, entries are only being accepted online through www.hltc.ie or through www.ti.tournamentsoftware.com.

The closing date is Wednesday, July 3.

Confirmations

The dates and times for next year's confirmation and first communions in St Aidan's Parish have been announced.

Confirmation will take place on Friday, March 6, with first communions taking place on Saturday, May 23.

Hurling greats to go to battle

Fans of classic GAA should take note of an upcoming event due to be staged in Waterford later this year.

A Wexford v Waterford hurling legends game will take place on Saturday, August 31, at 5 p.m.

The game will be held in Mount Sion GAA grounds in Waterford, and is being organised to raise money for Little Blue Heroes which is a charity for seriously ill children, supported by the Gardaí.

Tickets for the game, which will feature the likes of Martin Storey, Damien Fitzhenry and Dan Shanahan, are available from Castle Sports, Enniscorthy, and Alfie Hale's, in Waterford.

Patron day

The annual children's patron in St Mary's Cemetery, Enniscorthy will take place on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Christian media trust

The Christian media trust is looking for a part-time studio engineer.

Interested parties must have knowledge of modern sound equipment, including Adobe audition.

Ichthyosis support group

The annual coffee morning in aid of the Ichthyosis support group will take place on Friday, July 5, in the Bellefield GAA complex.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Homemade cakes will be served and there will also be a homemade cake sale on the day and a raffle.

The organisers are encouraging everyone in the community to go along on the day and support the event.

St Vincent de Paul

The local branch of the Society of St Vincent de Paul are currently looking for a couch that's in good condition.

The society is specifically looking for a type of couch that converts to a bed.

Hook of faith

The latest resources of the Hook of Faith feature the homily on the Feast of Corpus Christi by Fr Bill Cosgrave PP, Monageer.

There is also a video by Bishop Robert Barron which focuses attention on the sacrament of the Eucharist as real presence.

The interview focuses on the recent RTÉ documentary titled 'Divorcing God' that explored the affect of Ireland becoming more secular and less religious.

There are also guides on internet use in the wake of the Ana Kriegel murder trial.

Parking at Cathedral

Parishioners are reminded that there is no parking in the cathedral gateway at any time as emergency and delivery access is always required.

The parish office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Mass times in St John's

The mass times in St John's Hospital chapel are Tuesday and Friday (11.30 a.m.) and Thursday at 2 p.m. in the oratory of the new hospital.

Mass will also be celebrated in the chapel on Sunday at 11.15 a.m.

Parishioners are asked to note that booking masses can only be done by contacting Fr P Sinnott in St John's.
