Confirmations

The dates and times for next year's confirmation and first communions in St Aidan's Parish have been announced.

Confirmation will take place on Friday, March 6, with first communions taking place on Saturday, May 23.

Parking at cathedral

Parishioners are reminded that there is no parking in the cathedral gateway at any time as emergency and delivery access is always required.

The parish office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Mass in St John's

The mass times in St John's Hospital chapel are Tuesday and Friday (11.30 a.m.) and Thursday at 2 p.m. in the oratory of the new hospital.

Mass will also be celebrated in the chapel on Sunday at 11.15 a.m.

Parishioners are asked to note that booking masses can only be done by contacting Fr P Sinnott in St John's.

Couches for charity

The local branch of the Society of St Vincent de Paul are currently looking for a couch that's in good condition.

The society is specifically looking for a type of couch that converts to a bed.

Mass time changes

New mass times will be introduced in St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy, later this year.

The new timetable will become effective from the week - end of Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1.

That week end, masses will begin with Saturday vigil at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

St Senan's Church will have Saturday vigil at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Whist drive

There will be no whist drive for the next few weeks as part of the summer break.

Details of times and dates for the coming season will be published on the noticeboard page prior to the new season beginning.

4 day club

A four day club will take place in Ferns Community Centre throughout this week.

The event will begin on Tuesday, July 23, and will continue until Friday, July 26.

The club will begin at 2.30 p.m. each day and will be two hours in duration.

The initiative, which is being organised by the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) will include a range of activities including bible lessons, songs, games, a quiz and other fun activities.

Search on for ring owner

A woman from Enniscorthy is searching for the owner of a ring that she found in the Riverside Park Hotel.

The ring, which is a gold wedding band, was found just a couple of days before St Patrick's Day.

It was bought in a shop in Dublin, which is now closed, and the woman who found it is anxious to get it back to its owner as she feels it might be of huge sentimental value.

5 day club

Coaches for soccer

Shamrock Rovers AFC is currently looking for managers for its three adults teams.

Friday volleyball

Friday evenings will see volleyball activities taking place in Galbally.

The games will be held in the village hall between 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The sessions are open to people of all ages and abilities.

Those who are new to the game or just interested in finding out more about it are encouraged to attend the weekly sessions

Summer camp

Enniscorthy Christian Fellowship will hold its annual free children's summer camp in Gaelscoil Inis Corthaidh from Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26.

The camp, which is open to children aged between 5 and 12, will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fellowship 's free youth summer camp for people aged between 11 and 18 will take place in the Astro Active Centre, Bellefield, from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2.

The camp will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pilgrimage places

There are still some places left on the Faith, Friendship and Fun pilgrimage which will take place from the diocese in October.

The pilgrimage will be led by Fr Michael Doyle who is chaplain at Wexford General Hospital.

The pilgrimage will take place from October 4 to 11 and will take in four nights in Medjugorje and three nights in Dubrovnik.

The cost of the trip will be €779 per person.

Hurling legends

Fans of classic GAA should take note of an upcoming event due to be staged in Waterford later this year.

A Wexford v Waterford hurling legends game will take place on Saturday, August 31, at 5 p.m.

The game will be held in Mount Sion GAA grounds in Waterford and is being organised to raise money for Little Blue Heroes, which is a charity for seriously ill children, supported by the Gardaí.

Tickets for the game, which will feature the likes of Martin Storey, Damien Fitzhenry and Dan Shanahan, are available from Castle Sports, Enniscorthy, and Alfie Hale's, in Waterford.

Craft night

Enniscorthy Christian Fellowship would like to invite all women over 16 years of age to its free Ladies Craft Night on Wednesday, July 24 at 7.30 p.m. in the Salt n Pepper Pot Restaurant, Bellfield, Enniscorthy.

Tea and cakes will be served.

All ladies welcome

They will also have an International Music Night on in the Salt n Pepper Pot Restaurant on Saturday July 27 at 7.30 p.m., with live music, refreshments and dessert.

All ages welcome and admission is free.

Dancing in Bree

Irish dancing takes place in Bree Community Centre on Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Coding camp

TEKcentral - Coding and technology Summer Camp runs from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2, at Enniscorthy Enterprise & Technology Centre.

This summer camp promises fun-filled learning experiences for young people aged 7 to 13. The cost of participating will be €90.

Single launch

Local band Little Stevie & Mystery Train will be launching their new single during the upcoming rock 'n' food festival with a special outdoor concert in the old Dunne's Car Park, in conjunction with Smyth's Homevalue, in Enniscorthy, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 3.

The seasoned band of local musicians, fronted by popular singer, Stephen Murphy, have been treating South East audiences to the best of late 1950s and early 1960s rock 'n' roll classics over the past few years, and Stephen says their new single was penned to get people back on to the dance floor.

Personal items found

Over the past few months the Hope charity shop in Millpark Road, Enniscorthy has received donations of clothes in which pieces of jewellery and other personal items have been found.

The organisation says these items may have been 'inadvertently donated.

Dancing night

Marshalstown/Castledockrell Parish Councils present Shawn Cuddy and his band with Ally Harron and Marian Curry in the Riverside Park Hotel on Sunday, July 28.

Dancing from 8.30 p.m. Shawn is celebrating 30 years in the music business this year and we promise a great night.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate after the match.

Tickets, priced €10, will be available at the door on the night.

All proceeds from the event will towards parish funds.

The support of the general public around the locality will be very much appreciated by the organisers who say it will be a great night out.
