A Wexford v Waterford hurling legends game will take place on Saturday, August 31, at 5 p.m.

The game will be held in Mount Sion GAA grounds in Waterford, and is being organised to raise money for Little Blue Heroes which is a charity for seriously ill children, supported by the Gardai.

Tickets for the game which will feature the likes of Martin Storey, Damien Fitzhenry and Dan Shanahan, are available from Castle Sports, Enniscorthy, and Alfie Hale's, in Waterford.

Tennis open

Hillbrook Lawn Tennis Club will be hosting the County Wexford Senior Open Tennis Championships between Saturday, July 6, and Saturday, July 13.

The competition will feature singles, doubles and mixed events in all grades.

However, entries are only being accepted online through www.hltc.ie or through www.ti.tournamentsoftware.com.

The closing date is Wednesday, July 3.

Drama group AGM

Enniscorthy Drama Group will hold its Annual General Meeting in Treacy's Hotel on Friday, June 29, at 7 p.m.

All members are encouraged to attend and a wide range of items will be discussed as part of the agenda.

Volleyball in Galbally

Friday evenings will see volleyball activities taking place in Galbally.

The games will be held in the village hall between 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The sessions are open to people of all ages and abilities. Those who are new to the game or just interested in finding out more about it are encouraged to attend.

Pilgrimage places

There are still some places left on the Faith, Friendship and Fun pilgrimage which will take place from the diocese in October.

The pilgrimage will be led by Fr Michael Doyle who is chaplain at Wexford General Hospital.

The pilgrimage will take place from October 4 to 11, and will take in four nights in Medjugorje and three nights in Dubrovnik.

Whist drive

There will be no whist drive for the next few weeks as part of the summer break.

Details of times and dates for the coming season will be published on the noticeboard page prior to the new season beginning.

Walking football

Bunclody AFC provides the venue for walking football every week.

The games take place on Thursdays at 11 a.m. and are ideal for people of all ages, genders and fitness levels.

Everyone in the community is encouraged to go along and join in the fun.

Club seeks soccer coach

Shamrock Rovers AFC is currently looking for managers for its three adults teams.

The club is one of the most well-known in the district and anyone interested in getting involved is asked to contact the club secretary John Paul O'Connor on 087 7628964.

Library art

Visitors to Bunclody library during the month of June will be greeted with the colourful nature themed art work of Carlow artist Caroline Cunningham.

Having left a teaching career 20 years ago, Caroline followed a more authentic path which involved healing, transformation and the development of creative skills.

She is now a self-employed therapist of reflexology and coaches individuals and groups in various different aspects of well-being.

She will present a workshop in Bunclody library on Thursday, June 27, at 7 p.m.

Mass times changed

New mass times will be introduced in St Aidan's Cathedral, Enniscorthy, later this year.

The new timetable will become effective from the weekend of Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1.

That weekend, masses will begin with Saturday vigil at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

St Senan's Church will have Saturday vigil at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Confirmations

The dates and times for next year's confirmation and first communions in St Aidan's Parish have been announced.

Confirmation will take place on Friday, March 6, with first communions taking place on Saturday, May 23.

Charity cycle

Ferns Camogie Club will be organising a charity cycle event on July 14. The event is being organised to raise money for the club and also Temple Street Children's University Hospital.

Further details about the event will be published in this newspaper over the coming weeks.

Patron day

The annual patron in St Mary's Cemetery, Enniscorthy will take place on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

St Senan's Patron

This year's annual patron in St Senan's Cemetery, Enniscorthy, will take place on Wednesday, June 26, at 7 p.m.

Free level four courses

VTOS in Bunclody is currently recruiting for its QQI Level 3 and Level 4 courses.

The courses are free-of-charge and are available to those who are unemployed and aged 21 or over and in receipt of a social welfare payment.

St Mary's Cemetery children's patron will take place on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m.

7 Cs of calm

Well-being expert Caroline Cunningham will be in Bunclody library on Thursday, June 27, to present a workshop called 'Seven Cs to Calm: Reclaiming Your Anxiety-free self'.

She will highlight the well-being strategies that she herself used to overcome anxiety.

A spokesperson for the library said: 'This workshop will open your mind to the fact that you have the potential to restore calm'.

Community patrons

The patrons throughout the Enniscorthy town area will take place at the following times and locations: Cherryorchard, Thursday, July 4, at 7 p.m.; Presentation Convent, Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m.; St Aidan's Cathedral, Sunday, August 11, at 11.50 a.m.

Historical outing

The next outing of Uí Cinsealaigh Historical Society will be on Wednesday, June 26.

The outing will include a guided tour of Ferns before lunch followed by a guided tour of Ferns Castle.

A spokesperson for the society said the outing schedule will also include visits to the Tapestry in the Visitor Centre and St Aidan's Monastery of Adoration.

The cost of the outing, including tea or coffee, will be €15.

A coach will leave the Promenade, Enniscorthy, at 10 a.m.

Retirement meeting

The next meeting of Enniscorthy Retirement Association will take place in the Riverside Park Hotel at 2.30 p.m. on July 2.

The society has a busy schedule ahead with some upcoming events, including: a sponsored walk and barbecue on Wednesday, July 10 (all members are invited to the barbecue even if not walking); Bus and walk to St Mullin's (Tuesday, July 16); Bingo in Loreto Village (Wednesday, July 17); Race day outing, Saturday, July 27.

Among the other ongoing activities of the association, these include: Mondays: pitch and putt (10 a.m.); Fridays: line-dancing (11 a.m.) and bowls (1 p.m.) at CWCW; Tuesdays: Scrabble (10 a.m.) at astro turf; Wednesdays: riverside walk from hotel at 11 a.m.; Thursdays: ramblers' walks (meeting at Lidl at 9.30 a.m.).

Summer camp

Enniscorthy Christian Fellowship will hold its annual free children's summer camp in Gaelscoil Inis Corthaidh from Monday, July 22, to Friday, July 26.

The camp, which is open to children aged between 5 and 12, will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fellowship's free youth summer camp for people aged between 11 and 18 will take place in the Astro Active Centre, Bellefield, from Monday, July 29, to Friday, August 2.

The camp will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Fundraiser

The annual church gate collection of Beneath My Angel Wings raised €505 for the organisation.

The fundraiser was held at St Aidan's Cathedral and another fundraiser will be held outside Pettitt's SuperValu, Duffry Hill, on July 4 and 6.
