People travelled from all over Wexford to lend their support to an extremely worthy cause recently as the Ichthyosis Support Group hosted its annual coffee morning in Bellefield GAA Complex. A rare genetic skin condition, there are just five Ichthyosis sufferer's registered in Co Wexford. However, with all the research and discussion on the condition taking place in the UK, it is necessary to raise quite a bit in funding to keep those battling the condition in Ireland up to speed.

'It was a great success,' said organiser of the event Edel Kenny. 'It's one of our two fundraisers in the year along with the mini marathon and we get wonderful support from people across the county. As well as being a fundraiser, it's a great way of raising awareness for the condition and the coffee morning is also a chance for Ichthyosis sufferers to get together and talk to people who are going through the same things that they are.'

There was a great attendance at Bellefield on the day, with tea, coffee and cakes being served up as well as a big raffle for those present. The event managed to raise a grand total of €4,590.87 and Edel said that they were over the moon with this. 'We are extremely grateful to everyone who got involved and came along on the day. The local community are very good and without them it wouldn't happen.'
