Bree-Galbally - 100 Years Young: Congratulations to Ned Fenlon, Galbally, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday.

Bree Hub opening

The official opening of the Bree Hub, Bree Playground and Bree Hill Walks, part of the town and Village Rural Development Scheme, will take place at Bree Community Centre on Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

Handball all-Ireland

Congratulations to Ballyhogue handballers Peter Hughes and Galen Riordan, who recently won the all-Ireland Intermediate 40x20 Doubles Final defeating Tyrone.

Night at the Dogs

Bree United Soccer Club is hosting its annual 'Night at the Dogs' in Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Thursday, May 16. Your support would be appreciated.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

The numbers drawn on Wednesday, May 1, were 2, 9, 11 and 28. No jackpot winner. Match-three winners were Syl Doyle (Wexford), Adrian Dunne, Joe Jewison, Ciaran Hughes, Nicholas Doyle, Shane Doyle, Liam Blackburn/Helen Bates, David and Ann Minogue, Nicky Dempsey. Playground Fundraiser

Support is needed to share the responsibility of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Donations are welcome on instagram or Facebook app '' or to any committee member by Cheque or cash. Your support for this wonderful new facility for all children in our locality would be very much appreciated.

Bree/Glynn CEP Scheme

Bree Bingo

Bree Bingo continues every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. €10 per book and extra bonus sheets will be sold on the night for €2.

Bree AC News

Training for Bree AC takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for four to eight years has resumed on Mondays only in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The second day of the Co Championships are on May 12 in the Enniscorthy Hub.



Adoration takes place in Caim Church on Mondays. All are welcome to participate.


Sunday Mass at 10am and Wednesday morning Mass at 9.30am.

House of Stories

Ballindaggin house of stories will be held this Thursday night commencing at 8 p.m. Great music, stories and song. Admission free and refreshments served.

Duffry lotto

Ann Sutton was the match-three winner last week. The numbers drawn were 7, 8, 13 and 28. The jackpot is now €3,200. The next draw will take place in Jordans on Tuesday, May 7, at 9.30 p.m.

Ballindaggin Hall

There was a meeting held recently in relation to the upgrading and renovations needed for Ballindaggin Community Hall. As most people know the roof needs to be replaced and disability access and toilets must be provided. The kitchen and hallway have been tiled. A member of the committee will be delivering a letter to all houses in the Ballindaggin area shortly to outline plans and fundraising.

Winners on Saturday, April 27, were Maria Murphy (John Murphy's card); Betty Kearns (Caroline Kearns card);Anne Delaney (Matty Armstrong's card); Joanne Doyle (Lorcan O'Brien's card); Jack Doyle (Anne Brooks card). They won €100 each.

Late Elizabeth Byrne

Widespread regret was occasioned by the passing of Elizabeth (Lizzie) Byrne, Cloroguebeg, Kiltealy which occurred on Thursday, April 25, at Wexford General Hospital. Deepest sympathy is extended to her husband Denis and sons Martin, Jim and Tim and to her daughters Bridget, Mary and Elizabeth. Also to her brother Mick and sisters Annamai and Kitty, her eight grandchildren, son-in-law James and daughter-in-law Mary and extended family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her son Mikie.

Lizzie was age 73 years and had been in failing health for some time prior to her passing. She was formerly Lizzie Kearns, Ballycrystal and was an esteemed member of a very popular family. Lizzie was of a quiet, gentle, caring and sincere personality which endeared her to all. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. There was a large attendance at her funeral Mass in Kiltealy Church after which burial took place in Kiltealy Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Ballindaggin Storyhouse

Ballindaggin Storyhouse takes place this Thursday, May 9, at 8 p.m. Brillant music, song and story. Refreshments served. Admission free.

Kiltealy ICA

The May meeting of Kiltealy ICA was held on Wednesday last, May 2, The meeting was opened with a prayer by president Eileen Brennan. Elizabeth Armstrong read minutes of previous meeting and dealt with correspondence. Apologies from Kathleen O'Leary, Biddy O'Leary, Helen Rowe and Jane Buckley, who were unable to attend.

A vote of sympathy was extended to Maureen McManus on the death of her brother John Joe Buckley and to Jane Buckley on the death of her brother-in-law.

It was decided to donate wool socks to Fr Peter Barry Trust for the homeless people. The special occasions was discussed and Nora O'Donovan is making a poster for the event.

A very informative talk and demonstration was given on the night by Lorna Swan of DóTerra on the health benefits of essential oils. Nora O'Donovan thanked her for the demonstration and educational talk.

Raffle winner was Veronica Byrne and competition winner was Marie Coleman. A lovely tea was served by Elizabeth Armstrong and Eileen Brennan which was much enjoyed by all. The next meeting is on Wednesday, June 5.


Deepest sympathy is extended to the family, relations and friends of the late Billy Dalton, Duffry Lodge, Killanne, who died on Thursday last and was interred in Killanne Churchyard following Funeral Service in St Anne's Church. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations to the children who received their First Holy Communion in St Joseph's Church, Marshalstown on Saturday, May 4.

World Champion

Congratulations to James Redmond on winning the World Championship in boys' under-17 at the World Irish Dancing championships in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney recently. James, who is a member of the Mulcahy-Bible school of dancing, Waterford started dancing as a beginner in Ballygunner National School. He is son of John and Kay and grandson of Aidan and Anne Redmond, Ballycarney, who are all very proud of his achievements. Well done, James.


Next session of storytelling is in Castledockrell Hall on Thursday, May 16, at 8 p.m. Raffle held. Refreshments served. All are welcome, so do come along and bring a friend.

Mass Times

Weekend Masses in the parish are as follows Saturday in Marshalstown at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday in Castledockrell at 10 a.m. Please note also that baptisms in both Marshalstown and Castledockrell are on Saturdays only.

Social Dance

The next social in Marshalstown Community Centre takes place on Friday, May 17, with music by Peter Bourke. Doors open at 9.30 p.m. Dancing starts at 10 p.m. Admission €8 including tea. A big thank you to all who supported our last social which was held in aid of the Hope Cancer Support Centre. A cheque for €625 will be presented before our next social.


The annual patron and blessing of graves is in Marshalstown on Sunday, May 26, and in Castledockrell on Friday, July 5. More details nearer the dates.

First Holy Communion is on Sunday, May 12, in the Church of All Saints, Castledockrell.

Fun Run

Marshalstown NS parents' association are organising their annual Fun Run - 5k and 3k routes on Sunday, May 12. Start and finish at Marshalstown Community Centre. Registration at 11 a.m. Race starts 11.30 a.m. Adults €5. Children free but need to be accompanied by an adult. Entertainment supplied by Liam Sharkey and friends. Great raffle prizes. Refreshments served in Community Centre afterwards. It is set be another great success. Looking forward to seeing you all.
