Bree-Galbally - Hope Cancer Centre CD: Singer Peter Hughes of Galbally has produced a five track CD in aid of the Hope Centre, Enniscorthy. The CD, which includes his No.1 Hit single 'Keep on the Sunny Side', is on sale locally and in the Cancer Support Shop on Mill Park Road, Enniscorthy at €10. Support would be appreciated.

Bree ICA

The AGM of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre on April 16 at 8 p.m. A committee meeting will be held on April 9 at 8 p.m.

GAA Registration

Ballyhogue GAA registration night on this Wednesday from 6.45 to 7.20 p.m. in GAA complex.

Easter Monday Fun in Galbally

Get your ducks for the Galbally Sports and Leisure Club's duck race. The event will be held on Monday, April 22, at Wilton Mills, Craan. The race will start at 3 p.m., with ducks costing €10 each.

On the same day, Monday, April 22, there will be an indoor and outdoor market/car boot sale on from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. €15 per stall/pitch. For enquiries and bookings contact Dawn at 087 8306206.

Join the fun, take part in the Easter egg hunt and meet the Easter bunny. All funds raised go towards the renovation of Galbally Hall. Come along and contribute to the renovation of our local hall and the rejuvenation of our local community.

Bree Playground Fundraiser

Phase two of the Bree Playground has been approved and is due for completion by the end of April. Support is needed to share the responsibility of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Donations are welcome on instagram or Facebook app ''. Your support for this wonderful new facility for all children in our locality would be very much appreciated.

Macra Reunion

Wexford Macra na Feirme are organising a Reunion and dinner dance to celebrate their 70th Anniversary. The event will take place in the Riverside Park Hotel on Saturday, April 13, at 7.30 p.m.

All past and current members of Bree Macra are encouraged to come along and enjoy the memories as we take Macra in Wexford into the next decade.

CEP Scheme

Applications are being sought for the following positions on the Bree/Glynn CEP Scheme: Child Care Worker in Bri Beag, Child Care Worker in Galbally Playschool, Cleaner for Bri Beag and Bree Community Centre, Clerical Assistant in Bree. Community Games News

Best wishes to all local participants involved in quiz, Swimming and Talent county finals coming up shortly. Entries are still open for the Talent, Pitch and Putt and handball till April 11.

Well done to all participants taking part in the recent Handwriting and art county finals. Orlaith Flynn won a silver medal in the under-12 Handwriting. Ava Carberry won the bronze medal in under-eight art, Luke Jordan won silver in the under-10 Art and Sam Devereux won gold in the under-10 Art. Sam will represent the local area and Co Wexford at the national finals in Limerick in May.

Bree AC News

Outdoor training for Bree AC athletes takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for 4-8 years has resumed on Mondays only in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The next outing for the club will be St Senan's AC Open Sports on Easter Monday. Congratulations to Darra Casey on winning the gold medal in the National Indoor under-17 60m Hurdles in Athlone recently.

Schools Report

Well done to students of Scoil Mhuire NS Ballyhogue, who took part in the An Taisce National Spring Clean on Wednesday last. The children picked several bags of rubbish from the local area.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

Bree Bingo Bree Bingo continues every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. €10 per book and extra bonus sheets will be sold on the night for €2.

The annual Galbally Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, May 26.



Adoration takes place in Caim Church on Mondays. All are welcome to participate.

Mick OLeary was the match-three winner last week. The numbers drawn were 1, 6, 14 and 17. The jackpot is now €2,800. The next draw will take place in Bowes on Tuesday, April 9, at 9.30 p.m. Club and county draw tickets are now on sale from club members.

Caim Vintage Club will hold a road run starting in Caim on Sunday, April 28, commencing at 1 p.m.

We extend our sympathy to the Mahon family Clonroche on the passing of Francis (The Boxer) Mahon, The Villas, Clonroche. Beloved son of the late Frank and Mary Mahon, brother of Phil, Andy, Bridget, Ann, Mairead, Mary and the late Eileen and John. Sadly missed by his family, relatives, and friends.

We would also like to extend our sympathies to the Joyce families, Castleboro and Quirke Families Glenbrien on the tragic passing of Sé Pádraig Joyce (14 months), Castleboro, Clonroche, Beloved son of Pádraig Joyce and Brenda Quirke, brother of Abbie, Ben and Isobel and sadly missed by Larry, Connie, Pat and Mary. RIP.

Cloughbawn GAA lotto

Kiltealy community park

Kiltealy Community Park will be officially opened on Sunday next, April 14, by Minister Paul Kehoe. Prior to the official opening the park will be blessed by Bishop Denis Brennan D.D. John Reilly and Liam Sharkey will provide free entertainment for the children with music and all their favourite characters.

There will be information stands on the many projects that Kiltealy Community Development Group have been working on. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided for all. So come out and enjoy this excellent amenity in Kiltealy village.

Late Eddie (Edward) O'Connor

Widespread regret was occasioned by the passing of Eddie (Edward) O'Connor, Duffry Hall, Kiltealy which occurred on Sunday, March 31, Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Breda, to his daughters Karen, Orla, Deirdre and Emma, to his sons Daragh and John Paul, also to his grand daughters, his sister Ann and brothers Ollie, Donal, Barty, Noel and James and extended family and friends.

Eddie, as he was fondly known to all, was age 69 years. He was a true gentleman and an esteemed member of a well known and very popular family. He was especially well known in farming circles having worked the family farm at Duffry Hall all his life.

Eddie was a keen sportsman and a member of Duffry Rovers GAA club since its formation in 1961. He played at all levels and lined out with the 1969 and 1978 intermediate county hurling champions.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and his passing will leave a void hard to be filled. There was a large and representative attendance at his funeral Mass in Kiltealy Church on Wednesday last after which interment took place in Kiltealy Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Ballindaggin hall

Ballindaggin Hall committee will hold a general meeting for everyone in the area on Tuesday, April 9, at 8.30 p.m. to discuss plans for urgently needed repairs to the community hall.

Story House

Ballindaggin Story House takes place this Thursday, April 11, at 8 p.m. Great entertainment, top class music, song and story. Refreshments served, admission free.

Spring clean 2019

Annual 'Spring Clean' 2019 takes place during the month of April and deadline for completion is April 30.

Is there a lot of litter on the roads near your home? Can you please volunteer your time for litter picking in Kiltealy and Ballindaggin areas? In Kiltealy bags and gloves are available in local shops and once litter is picked please call 087 6677418 to arrange for bags to be collected.

In Ballindaggin interested parties can collect bags, gloves and litter pickers in Jordan's shop. Your support is really appreciated and benefits everyone in the community.

VTOS Centre courses
