Boolavogue: Sympathy - Sincere sympathy is extended from all in Boolavogue to the family and relations of the late Josie O'Hanlon (née Gahan, Knocknasgeach) who died at her home in Killeavy, Co. Armagh, recently. Her Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Joseph's Church, Meigh and her remains were interred in the adjoining cemetery afterwards.
She is survived by her children Mary, Paula, John, Angela, Mairéad and Yvonne, grandchildren Conor, Paul, Evan, Terry, Kiera, Aoife, Amelia and Ryan, sisters Francie, Kate and Sr. Theresa, sons-in-law, daugher-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and a wide circle of friends.

Congratulations to our under-13 hurlers who had a good 1-11 to 1-3 win over Naomh Éanna on Thursday the 23rd.

Bernie Flood is due to read at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, June 8, at 8 p.m. with Olive Burke helping distribute Holy Communion. At the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, Rika O'Neill is reading while Gay Gahan is the Minister for the Eucharist.

Congratulations to Sarah-Jane Lacey, youngest daughter of Peadar and Eileen Lacey, Garryduff, who married Conall Nolan, Oulartard, in St Cormac's Church on Friday, May 24. The wedding reception was held Riverside Park Hotel and a great time was had by all.

Congratulations to Kildavin National School, who are cumann na mBunscoil Hurling Champions after beating Drumphea on Tuesday, May 28, in Fenagh. Well done to everyone involved.
Clonegal, Kildavin and the wider community was saddened to hear the death of the late James (Jimmy) Kirwan, Kilcarry, Clonegal, who passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 27.
Beloved husband of Bridget and loving father of JJ, Ray, Barry, Tracy and Madge. Brother of Paddy, Joe, Kathy, Nancy, Maggie and the late Andy, Betty and Nellie. Sadly missed by his wife, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, granddaughter Kelly, son-in-law Edward, daughter-in-law Gillian, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposed at Lennon's Funeral Home, Bunclody on Tuesday. Removal to St Brigid's Church, Clonegal on Wednesday afternoon. Funeral Mass on Thursday, followed by burial afterwards adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs Mary O'Grady, her husband Eddie and family (Ballincash) on the death of her sister Margaret O'Neill (formerly Chapel, Clonroche), Ferrybank, Waterford, who died on Monday, May 27. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St Clement's Church, Cloughbawn on Thursday, after which burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
The organisers of the recent coffee morning that was held in Marty's Bar, in aid of St Mochua's Church, extend a sincere thank you to all who supported it. The amount raised was €1,330. The prize-winners in the raffle were Ray McAuliffe, Edel Byrne, Margaret Furlong, Tony Byrne, Jim Mythen, Geraldine Wynne, Martin Harris, Josephine Kavanagh and May Murphy.
Congratulations to Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team on their brilliant win in the League Final against St Martin's, last Monday evening, May 27, in Farmleigh.
Though the wind-assisted Piercestown team got off to a great start, scoring one goal and five points before Oulart-The Ballagh registered their first score, local supporters felt that the never-say-die attitude of the Oulart-The Ballagh team would ensure that they would not relinquish the title without an almighty effort. At one stage the team in Red and Black was seven points in arrears but point by point they reduced that lead till they equalised and eventually won on a scoreline of 15 points to 1-11.
Congratulations to the whole team and management on a hard-earned victory and special mention to one of the younger players-Eimear O'Connor, who defended defiantly and showed a wide range of skills as she repulsed attack after attack. Team captain, Shauna Sinnott was presented with the League Cup by the chairperson of Wexford camogie board.
Everyone in Oulart and the Ballagh sends best wishes to our U-14 Féile team who are travelling to Cork this weekend to represent Wexford in the All-Ireland Féile na nGael hurling competiton.
Their host club is Middleton and they will also be taking on Lucan Sarsfields and Carrigtwohill. Their first game, against Carrigtwohill, is at 5.30 on Friday in Carrigtwohill. Then on Saturday they take on their hosts and Lucan Sarsfields. Congratulations to Philip Rossiter, his selectors and mentors and especially to the boys on getting this far and the best of luck in Cork.
Siúl Ladhrú (Laroo)
Oulart Hill Development and Oulart Hill Walking Hub are pleased to announce that very soon a new amenity walk linking the Unyoke and Blackwater will open to the public. Measuring 7.4km in length, Siúl Ladhrú will be an easy walk, passing through some of the most unique topography in Ireland called Kame and Kettle and a landscape in which the name of Ladhra (Lyra), a hero in the nation's oldest legend, is reflected in several local place names.
Family Fun Day
Oulart Christmas Lights Committee are hosting a Family Fun Day in Marty's Bar on Sunday, June 16, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be entertainment by Liam Sharkey, barbecue, face painting, raffle and much more. Tickets are only €5 and children go free. There will also be a Door Prize to the value of €150.
Please support this event so that Oulart Village will be illuminated brightly for Christmas 2019.
The latest winner of Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot is Mairéad McAuliffe who gets €124.The school benefits to the same amount. The next draw is on June 4 Entry envelopes are available from the school and from local businesses. The parents' association say 'thank-you' to all who regularly play split-the-pot in support of the local primary school.
The pupils of Scoil Mochua have some very interesting school tours to look forward to, in June. The junior and senior infants will visit Kia-Ora Mini Farm on June 20 First and Second Classes will travel to UCD Sports Centre on June 11. Third and Fourth Classes will visit Kilkenny Activity Centre on June 18 while Fifth and Sixth Classes will travel to Dunmore Adventure Centre on June 24 the school will be closed all week June 3 to June 7 summer Holidays begin at midday on June 28. Field day will be held after the patron on June 30.

Model County Draw
The second of this year's three draws took place on Wednesday, May 29. Oulart-The Ballagh GAA sold two winning tickets. Congratulations to Ethan Freeman on winning seventh prize (Kilcannon Garden Voucher valued at €150) and to John Jackman, who won the 34th prize - a Pettitt's SuperValu Voucher to the value of €150. The first prize of a new Skoda Fabia (valued at 16,000 euro) went to Peter Hammell of Kilmuckridge. Best of luck to all the subscribers in the third and final draw at the end of June.

The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to raise much needed funds for the Community First Responders, bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.

A baby and Toddler Group gathers every Tuesday in Glenbrien Old School Centre from 9.45 a.m. to 11.45 a.m. This is an opportunity for young children and their carers (parents/grandparents/childminders) to meet.
