Blackwater: Active Retirement - The group is going on a trip to Mayo from May 25 to May 28 2020, three night stay in Breaffy House Hotel. Cost €240 per person sharing, single supplement is €20 per night.

Please note - Change of venue for voting in the General Election on Saturday, February 8, will be in Blackwater Parish Hall AND NOT in Blackwater National School.

GAA notes

Well done to Tomas Murphy, who scored a first half hat trick with St Peter's College on Wednesday against local rivals Good Council to send them on their way to the next round of the Senior Football Championship.

Well done to under-nine hurler Seán O'Leary, who won a draw to be the Wexford teams mascot against Clare in the first round of the league.

Art and Craft Workshops for children

Children's Art and Craft classes for aged four to nine years are taking place in Ballygarrett GAA Complex for six weeks, starting Saturday, February 15, and continuing till March 21. Time: 10 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.

Classes will also commence for children aged 10 to 13 years and these are taking place in Ballygarrett GAA Complex for six weeks, starting Saturday, February 15, and continuing till March 21. Time: 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

GAA facility opening

The new building in the Ferns St Aidan's GAA field will be officially opened Sunday, February 9, by Wexford. GAA County chairman Derek Kent at 12.30 followed by a Senior Inter-County Challenge Match between Wexford and Waterford at 1 p.m. Come along to see Davy Fitzgeralds Leinster champions in action for a fun family day out. Admission €10.

The school is now taking enrolments for the coming school year 2020/21. Anyone wishing to enrol their child for the school year 2020/21 can obtain an enrolment form from the school office any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Any queries please contact the school 053 9366738.

We would like to thank all grandparents who came to our Grandparents Mass on Monday the third Febraury in the school. Each grandparent received a St Brigid's cross made by the pupils in the school. Thanks also to Fr Remond for performing the beautiful ceremony.

Scoil Naomh Maodhóg

Anyone wishing to enrol their child in junior infants for September 2020 are asked to call to the school office during the enrolment period (from January 20 till February 26) to collect an enrolment form.

Enrolment forms will also be available from the local Playschools/Montessori schools. Further information can be obtained from the school office at 053 9366205.

New Local Link bus service

Service runs Tuesdays and Fridays. Leaving Clologue at 9.45 a.m. travelling through Ferns, Ballyduff to Gorey and returning from Gorey at 1.30 p.m. Traveling back through Ballyduff and Ferns to Clologue. Free travel pass valid, under-5s free. Single €3, return €6.

Important thing is that it's a demand response service so needs to be booked by 3 p.m. the day before by ringing Local Link at 053 9196276 or 053 9296279. Can pick up at door along the way, just give Eircode when you call.

Bowls is played in the community centre every Wednesday afternoon 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Valentine's Night Social Dance

A Valentines Night Social Dance is being held in Monageer Parish Hall on Friday, February 14, from 9.30 p.m. to Midnight - this promises to be a great night with magic dancing, tea, cakes and chat - Music by Larry Champion - Admission €10 and with door prizes.

First Responders

In case you are not aware where the AED in Monageer is on the old school house wall to the left of the GAA Complex gates. We also have our mobile AEDs which are with our first responders.

We could really do with some new responders to maintain our 24/7 cover. If you or a family member or friend would like to join us please drop us a message. All training provided.

Yoga Classes

Yoga classes in association with Active8 are coming to Monageer Hall on Thursdays from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Booking essential - please contact Michelle at 087 9813950. Class is suitable for all. What to bring a warm blanket n socks, a cushion/pillow for yoga nidra (deep relaxation) at end of class, water and mats if you have them. Cost: €12 walk in, €50 for five classes or €90 for 10 classes.

The Ballagh Boxing Club will benefit from the bingo that will be held in Bob's Bar, The Ballagh, starting on Tuesday, January 14, at 9 p.m. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Operation Transformation

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club, through its Healthy Club Officer, Breda Flood has signed up, once again for the RTÉ Operation Transformation 'Ireland Lights Up' that was so successful in 2019. Beginning on Monday, January 13, and continuing till February 24, the lights at the Upper Pitch will be on Monday nights from 7 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. to enable walkers/runners to participate. People are asked to sign-in so that the numbers taking part can be recorded.

Baptisms in Oulart

Oulart and Ballaghkeene Baptism dates for 2020 have been published and will take place on Saturdays at midday or 4 p.m. Three weeks' notice is required. Bingo in Oulart

Bingo is held in Oulart Community Centre every Sunday night, beginning at 8 p.m. Books are €10 with valuable cash prizes. The jackpot now stands at more than €400. We would ask as many people as possible to support the bingo because not only does it act as a fundraiser, it is also a great way of making and meeting friends and parishioners for a chat.

GAA/camogie registration

There will be a Club Registration night on Tuesday, February 4, from 8.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in Oulart Community Centre.
