Adamstown: Cards. The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, June 28, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 28th will be: Gillian O'Neill, Edel Doyle, Ann Marie O'Shea and Geraldine Thorpe. Catering on Friday, July 5, will be: Breda Kelly, Valerie Kelly, Anne O'Brien and Eileen Moran. Catering on Friday, July 12, will be: Dympna Rochford, Mary Lawlor, Edel Crean and Marie Dunphy. Catering on Friday, July 19, will be: Ann McDonald, Una McDonald and Sinéad O'Gorman. Proceeds going to parish funds.

The card players were delighted to welcome Matt back last week following his recent illness, continued good health Matt and all the best.

Show Entries

The closing date for entries for the 72nd Agricultural, Horticultural, Trade and Vintage Show on Saturday, July 6, in Adamstown is this Wednesday, June 26. Church Altars and Decorations Rota 2019/20.

The following is the rota for looking after the church and Altars for the next 12 months, which was drawn up at Mass on Sunday last. July - Doononey/Rathkyle, August - Newtown/The Leap September - Tomgarrow, October - Brocurra, November - Coonogue, December - Adamstown. 2020 - January - Ballyvergin/Glenour, February - Kellystown, March - Oldcourt, April - Misterin May - Knockreigh, June - Raheenduff. Free Circus Skills

Raheen Family Resource Centre in conjunction with Wexford County Council Creative Communities programme intends running Free Circus Skills, carnival arts and street theatre workshops on the following dates: three evening workshops from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, Friday, July 5, and Friday, July 12. There will also be a week long programme from Monday, July 22, to Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. At the evening workshops the participants will explore circus skills and drama games and help devise a theme for the week long workshops and showcase on Saturday the 27th.

At the weeklong workshops the participants will explore circus skills and drama games, create their own performances and get creative making props and costume pieces for the final showcase. Martial Arts Camps

Raheen Family Resource Centre will be running free Martial Arts summer camps in Adamstown Community Centre on the following dates.

Week 1: Monday, July 8, to Wednesday, July 10, 7-10 years. Week 2: Monday, July 15, to Thursday, July 18, 11 years upwards.

Participants will learn self-defence, self-awareness, boxercise and lots more. There will also be fun and games which will promote team building and confidence. The camp will be delivered by John Philips, who has a fourth Degree Black Belt. Booking is essential, please contact Joyce or Bridget at 051 442888 or email for more information or to book.


We extend our condolences to Ger and Christine Mackey and family, Glenour on the death of Ger's brother James (Jim) Tobergal, Boolavogue. Sympathy also to all his family. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Cormac's Church, Boolavogue on Tuesday with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Congratulations to Jimmy and Betty O'Shea, who recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The couple marked the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary with a meal in Whitford House Hotel surrounded by their extensive family. We wish them both many more happy years together. Duffry lotto

Molly Fenlon, Loretto Coleman and Ann Walsh were the match-three winners last week. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 6 and 29. The jackpot is now €3,900. The next draw will take place in the Holy Grail on Tuesday, June 25, at 9.30 p.m.

Vintage Rally

The annual Vintage Rally and road run will take place in Caim on Sunday, September 8.


A large crowd attended a special Mass and reception in the hall to mark the retirement of Betty Kehoe as principal of Caim National School. Happy Retirement Betty.

Caim Vintage Club

Caim Vintage Club held a very successful road run on Sunday, June 16, in aid of Monart Church and a project at Devitts junction where the junction has been cleaned up and a decorated boat has been placed there. Monart were presented with a cheque for €700 and the boat project with a cheque for €200. Caim Men's Shed also contributed to the Boat Project. The club wishes to thank everyone who supported the run.


Lough Derg

Castledockrell NS

We are very proud of our Active Flag in Castledockrell NS and this year we have decided to make June our Active Month. The highlight of our Active Month is of course Sports Day, which took place on June 13. The weather was not as favourable as we would have hoped but it was still a great day. Activities included relay races, water races, rounder's, an obstacle course, a bouncy castle, space hopper races, spud and spoon races, sack races, three legged races, the high jump, uni-hockey matches and much, much more. We even had a parent's race. It was a 'sport's for all' day and the focus was on being a team player and having fun. For more information please contact the school at 053 9388892, or our website

Pilgrimage to Knock

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday, July 7. If anybody would like to join with the choir in singing at the Diocesan Mass on that day please contact Eileen Carton 087 2933545.


Next session of storytelling in Castledockrell is on Thursday, July 18, at 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served and there is a raffle on the night.

Castledockrell Patron

The annual patron and blessing of graves is in Castledockrell on Friday, July 5, with Prayers in cemetery at the church at 7.45 p.m. and Prayers in Present Cemetery at 8 p.m.

Mass Times

Weekend Masses in the parish are as follows Saturday in Marshalstown at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday in Castledockrell at 10 a.m.

Please note also that baptisms in both Marshalstown and Castledockrell are on Saturdays only.

Social Dance

The next Social Dance in Marshalstown is on Friday, July 19. Doors open at 9.30 p.m. and dancing starts at 10 p.m. Admission including tea is €8.

Crioshue Patron

The annual patron and blessing of graves is in Crioshue on Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m.
