THREE Gorey Community School students certainly have the gift of the gab – as Gaeilge anyway.

The members of the school's Gael Linn Irish Debating Team, Ailbhe Ni Cholmain (captain), Aine Ni Dhuinn and Michael O Scannail, recently advanced to the next round of the Gael Linn Irish debating competition.

They opposed the motion 'Ta an curacalam dara leibheil oirunach don la ata inniu ann' which translates as 'The secondary school curriculum is suitable for the modern world.' They successfully argued their case against teams from St. Gerard's Bray and Colaiste Bhríde, Carnew, at a debate in St. Gerard's, Bray.

The aim of the Gael-Linn's schools' debating competition is to help promote the use of Irish in schools and among young people.

The victorious team and their teacher Treasa Wemyss look forward to the next round which will take place before Christmas.
