FIVE WEXORD finalists are among 30 home cooks selected for the upcoming Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards 2013, which take place in Dublin on Saturday, November 9.

The Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards is a national cookery competition open to all ages and 2013 sees its third year, and possibly the most highly contested and most popular to date.

Three finalists were selected for each of the ten varied categories from thousands of entries for their unique, tasty and creative recipes.

Finalists are asked to take part in a cook-off final on the morning of Saturday, November 9 at Cooks Academy cookery school, in Dublin 2, where each person will cook their dishes for the competition judges.

The 30 home cooks will become television stars as the TV3 cameras will be there to capture every moment of the awards. The Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards TV show will air on TV3 on Saturday, November 16.

Judging this year's competition are celebrity chefs Kevin Dundon, Dunbrody Country House and Cookery School; Catherine Fulvio, Ballyknocken House and Cookery School; and Gina Miltiadou, Managing Director of Zahra Media Group, publisher of Easy Food magazine.

The evening of the final, all finalists, judges and friends will attend a black-tie gala awards ceremony at The Shelbourne Hotel, in St. Stephen's Green, hosted by TV3's Martin King, at which the 10 overall winners will be announced.

Each winner will receive €1,500 worth of prizes including a weekend break, kitchen appliances, restaurant and supermarket vouchers, and a hamper of utensils, kitchenware and foodie goodies. This year sees an additional award added to the event, the Easy Food Dish of the Year, which will be awarded to the chef with the best overall dish.
