SOME SIXTY bidders picked up some great bargains at Askamore Hall recently, as 300 lots went up for auction to raise funds for local projects.

Askamore Community Council was delighted to receive so many quality donations, and the large crowd who went along to the auction certainly had a lot to choose from.

Items ranged from bikes to a fish tank, as well as kitchen items, books, clothes and other bric a brac.

Auctioneers David Quinn and Harold Young made sure everyone dug deep on the day and almost €3,000 was raised.

A bidding war broke out over a photograph of the 2009 intermediate hurling champions accepting their award, while there was also great interest in a new mountain bike. The bidders were delighted to see one special young man successfully bid on a beautiful tin train set. The Community Council sent a massive thank to all who helped in any way to make the day such an outstanding success. The money will be used on various projects which are undertaken by the Council, including the upkeep of the new Park, and the continued operation of the Hall.
