The members of Ferns GPA raised a massive €11,367 for two charities while at the same time remembered their friend and long-standing member, Teddy Sinnott.

The money was presented to representatives of Wexford Hospice Homecare and the Irish Cancer Society at an event in the Courtyard, Ferns.

The money was raised at an event that took place on August 27, this year, when the organisation hosted a 50-bird clay pigeon shoot in memory of Mr Sinnott.

A spokesperson for the club commented: 'Teddy sadly passed away in December, 2018, after a short illness as a result of cancer.'

Shooters came from all over the region to support the shoot which was organised specifically to raise money for the two very worthwhile charities.

A spokesperson for the club said everyone involved with the organisation was 'overwhelmed' with the generosity and support received from sponsors, Wexford clubs, the Wexford Regional Games Council and people who helped out on the day.

'Ferns GPA would like to thank the Sinnott family for asking [the organisation] to host this event in honour of Teddy and for their generous sponsorship of the Perpetual Cup,' said the club spokesperson.
