Enniscorthy Special Olympics held its annual party recently at the Astro-turf and it was a great success.

This year the world games took place in March and that meant 2019 is regarded as a 'non advancement year', however, there were some local events and Leinster competitions that members competed in and that was acknowledged at the party.

A spokesperson for the local branch told this newspaper that next year will be a big one for everyone involved as the members prepare for competitions as part of the advancement year towards the Ireland Games in 2022.

The members had a great time at the party and the organisers are very grateful to everyone who supports Special Olympics every year.

The spokesperson highlighted to this newspaper that the organisation is always looking for new members and volunteers to get involved whether it's in a coaching capacity or helping out in whatever role is necessary.

To find out how to get involved log onto www.specialolympics.ie or contact Margaret Nolan at margaret.nolan@bd.com or Larry Parle at County Wexford Community Workshop.
