A pupil in Castledockrell National School has showcased not just her caring and charitable nature but also the lengths she will go to in order to help others.

Ava Byrne competed in this year's junior 'to Hell and Back' event in Kilruddery House estate.

The fifth class pupil decided to compete in the event to raise money for her school and also for the community support organisation, Pieta House.

She was very successful in her fundraising and managed to raise €529.73 for the charity in addition to a further €508.50 for her school.

The school management and staff congratulated Ava on her achievement and thanked her for her generosity.

Olive Ruane, from Pieta House, also thanked Ava for her support and the manner with which she raised the money as she accepted the cheque on behalf of her organisation.
