We’re not here for fun: Andrews

WE'RE NOT here for the beer - that's the clear message from Keith Andrews as Ireland stepped up their Euro 2012 preparations and Giovanni Trapattoni set a punishing schedule for the next week.

Robbie Keane and Glenn Whelan will link up with the squad with two training sessions already done and two a day planned for the rest of the week. John O’Shea remains the only injury doubt and sat out today’s sessions.

Trapattoni put his players through their paces at a sunny Malahide today as the squad prepared for Keane's arrival from Los Angeles, his hamstring injury no longer a major concern for the Irish boss.

And midfielder Andrews insists that it's all about hard work for the next 20 days before the first group game, against Croatia in Poznan.

“Of course we can qualify from the group. We're not going there for the craic, we'll leave that to the fans,” said Andrews.

“The fans are there to enjoy themselves, we will enjoy ourselves by doing things right.

“We have done part of the job by qualifying but if we were going there to make up the numbers, we may as well have left it at the playoff in Estonia.

“We have come through a tough group and a play-7off, we're going there to come out of the group at the finals.”
