O'Connor seals win for Ulster

Leaders Ulster maintained their golden tag as the only unbeaten club in Europe by making it nine out of nine in the PRO12 League against Benetton Treviso (16-15) at Stadio di Monigo last night.

It all came down to a 58th-minute penalty by out-half Niall O'Connor, his third of the evening, to put beside the conversion of full-back Peter Nelson's 24th-minute try as they recovered from an early try by Treviso full-back Brendan Williams.

Dragons fire to burn Connacht

Connacht could not come up with the consistency their coach Eric Elwood craves as they stumbled to a 14-3 defeat by Newport-Gwent Dragons in the PRO12 League at Rodney Parade last night.

Their single return for their efforts came from out-half Dan Parks' penalty in the sixth minute in advance of the Dragons' try by centre Pat Leach and points from the boot of full-back Tom Prydie and, unusually, number eight Tom Brown.

McGrath stars for Leinster A

Ireland U20 scrum-half Luke McGrath was the spark behind a 31-9 win by Leinster A over their Connacht counterparts at The Sportsground last night.

The energetic McGrath triggered the first two of Leinster's tries from second row Tadhg Beirne and captain Conor Gilsenan, the third coming from full-back Andrew Boyle in the 67th minute.
