Newbridge were always a step ahead of St Andrew's once their second rows Brian Larkin and Mike Joyce pounced for tries in the fifth and 14th minutes on Tuesday.
The problem for St Andrew's, led by number eight Jonny Guy, was that they were looking at a 10-point deficit. Their lock Nick Hibberd's low carry took them to within five until The Bridge's scrum-half Colm Doyle's penalty closed it.
