Mayo lose coach O'Neill

FRESH from losing an All-Ireland final, James Horan has now lost his coach after Cian O'Neill confirmed his departure from the Mayo management team.

The UL lecturer -- who has been heavily linked with a possible switch to Eamonn Fitzmaurice's new management team in Kerry -- said he was leaving the Mayo set-up because of health issues linked to a previous back injury.

In 2009, O'Neill had two discs removed from his back after a car accident. "There was never any chance of me doing a second year," he insisted. "My back has got worse with the driving and the five-and-a-half hour round trips were causing problems for my health."

DERRY'S Paddy Bradley has cast doubt over his inter-county future as he faces into a second major knee operation. The 31-year-old last week suffered his second cruciate rupture in 18 months and on Monday was advised that he would require surgery.
