Man United ready to make £40m Harry Kane bid
Harry Kane on England duty
MANCHESTER United are ready to test the resolve of Tottenham by making a £40million bid for Harry Kane.
The summer holidays ended for the United players today as they reported back for training, with Real Madrid target David de Gea confirming to media in Spain that he was on his way back to England for pre-season with the club despite persistent claims that he is on his way to Real.
Spurs are adamant that Kane is not leaving the club but with Radamel Falcao now departed after his loan spell was not renewed and Robin van Persie likely to leave Old Trafford, bound for Turkey, Louis van Gaal need a big-name striker in place.
Reports in London suggest that United have already held talks with Spurs over Kane but the asking price for the England man could be a sticking point, with United likely to offer £40m but Spurs keen for a higher fee.
Meanwhile, Aiden McGeady could be on the move again as Sunderland have been heavily linked with the Ireland man. McGeady has yet to make a real impact at Everton since his move from Spartak Moscow and the arrival of Gerard Deulofeu on a permanent deal puts McGeady under more pressure.
