Long-distance love for Roberta and Ross as she rules out UK move
SINGER Roberta Howett has ruled out a permanent move to Britain, where her new beau Ross Desmond is based.
The former X Factor contestant set tongues wagging that a move overseas could soon be on the cards, after being spotted frequenting some of London's most exclusive restaurants and bars with the son of billionaire businessman Dermot Desmond in recent weeks.
However Roberta (27) insists that she will be staying close to her Dublin roots, despite her blossoming romance with the younger brother of Andrea Corr's hubby, Brett.
The blonde beauty is currently gracing the small screen every Saturday night as the lead singer of the house band on RTE's Tonight with Craig Doyle and says she already has a number of projects lined up which will keep her busy once the show wraps.
"I'm based in Dublin at the moment and I love living at home near my friends and family. I have no plans to move," she said.
"I think I'll probably be spending a lot of time over there for work and other things but this is where my life is.
"We've got three weeks left working on the show with Craig and then I have a few more things in the pipes that will keep me busy at home and in the UK."
DOUBLE
The singer is tight-lipped on her blossoming romance with Ross (27), however.
"I'm keeping that to myself for now actually," she said of her new relationship. "I'd rather not talk about it."
Since meeting through mutual friends earlier this year, Roberta and her stockbroker beau have been commuting between their respective homes in Dublin and London to keep their long-distance romance alive. The couple are also said to have enjoyed several double dates with Dundalk beauty, Andrea Corr and her husband of less than a year, Brett Desmond, whom she wed at a star-studded bash in Doonbeg, Co Clare last August.
The two pop beauties no doubt had plenty to talk about, given that Roberta was previously linked to Andrea's brother, Jim Corr. And it looks like the Beautiful Lies singer could have an awkward encounter on her hands when she comes face to face with Jim later this month at an intimate gathering planned to mark Andrea's 36th birthday on May 17.
The exclusive soiree is expected to be held here in Dublin, with the petite singer marking her big milestone alongside her nearest and dearest.
VIOLINIST
Just last month the close-knit family congregated at upmarket eatery L'Ecrivain for a surprise party to celebrate Andrea's sister Sharon Corr's 40th birthday.
Roberta, who previously worked as backing vocalist for Sharon did not attend, however, explaining that she has been too busy with her new television gig to meet up with the violinist in recent times.
