Stay hydrated as big day arrives
Good luck, ladies!
With the big day just around the corner, the team here at Flora want to wish you all the very best of luck on race day. Rain or shine, hopefully shine, it promises to be a super day and we can't wait to see 40,000-plus ladies pounding the pavements for good health and good causes.
We would especially like to thank all of you who sent entries to the Flora Families competition. We have been so inspired by your impressive race day families and your fantastic stories. We're very excited to be revealing the winners on race day.
The overall winner will receive €1,000 for her chosen charity as well as a well- deserved luxury weekend break. The two runners up will each receive €500 for their charities -- so even more cause for celebration on this wonderful day.
We would also like to thank chef Rozanne Stevens for creating the delicious Flora recipes, specifically for all you busy ladies in training for the Flora Women's Mini Marathon.
Those tasty and nutritious recipes are obviously perfect for year-round family meals so we hope you'll continue to enjoy them.
So finally, with just four days to go, Flora nutritionist Dr Patricia Heavey has some top nutrition tips for race day:
>Despite any pre-race nerves you may have, it's important to eat breakfast on the morning of the race but avoid fatty cooked breakfasts and opt for something light, such as toast with a low-fat spread like Flora Light or cereals like porridge and fruit or yoghurt
>It is vital to be well hydrated on race day. Drink water throughout the morning of the race up to about half an hour before it starts.
>Make sure to bring a water bottle with you during the race and drink small amounts continuously.
