New mum Jennifer Maguire won't be pushing daughter Flo into the limelight

The presenter says her maternal instincts are telling her to keep Flo out of the limelight.

"I don't think it's fair on her just yet," Jentold the Diary.

"Magazine deals are fine - I've no problem with them, but I just thought she's so tiny and you always feel a bit apprehensive that you're forcing her into the spotlight.

"She's had lots of offers - the phone is off the hook."

Despite all the kerfuffle in RTE radio headquarters, the Breakfast Republic star and former Apprentice star is relieved to be staying on 2fm's early mornings.

"I don't know what's happening, but I know we're safe and that we're staying where we are," she said.

"I think there's always going to be change, and you can't get too comfortable in radio or on telly ever."

Star Joey returns for one-off show

Fresh from an impressive set at Forbidden Fruit earlier this summer, rising hip hop star Joey Bada$$ has announced he will be back in the capital this winter for a one-off show.

The Brooklyn artist, who released his debut album B4.DA.$$ earlier this year, will play the Academy on November 10.

After being first signed at the tender age of 15, Joey has gone on to prove he is one of the hottest new acts in music and has even appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Tickets for the gig are priced at €26.50 and go on sale this Friday at 10am from www.ticketmaster.ie

Opera in the Open

Dublin looks set to be transformed into a mini Paris next month with a celebration of French opera in the city, entitled Opera in the Open.

The musical extravaganza, run by Dublin City Council and the French embassy, will kick off this Thursday in Merrion Square Park with a special one-off performance of Orphee ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck at 1pm.

The event will then move to the Amphitheatre, Wood Quay, where the programme of French operas will continue. Lunchtime concerts will take place every Thursday during August.
