ACTRESS Deirdre O'Kane (right) has been busy racking up impressive TV and movie credits of late but she is itching to get back to the stand-up comedy scene.
The Moone Boy star said that reaching middle age has spurred her decision to go back to her comic roots. "I'm back writing stand-up," she told the Diary.
"I just decided I had something to say again. I think arriving at middle age has presented me with new stuff."
Being a woman in the male-dominated arena of stand-up can't be easy, but things aren't so different when it comes to acting, she confessed.
"It can be frustrating at times," the mum-of-two admitted. "The roles are few and far between, pickings are slim. But it just goes with the territory."
Deirdre, who was praised for her portrayal of Christina Noble in the film Noble, will also be returning to the stage for a play based on last summer's Garth Brooks debacle.
The play is called Are You There Garth? It's Me, Margaret.
