Heaslip: 'I've had offers from a lot of places

Ireland number eight Jamie Heaslip has thrown down the gauntlet to the IRFU by revealing that he could make the ground-breaking move to a southern hemisphere club.

"I have been approached by a Super 15 team. It wouldn't deter me at all.

"It would be a massive change in lifestyle," says the Leinster star.

"So many people I know are going to the southern hemisphere to work or travel anyway. I have got offers from a lot of places."

The world-class loose forward is one of the most prized players in Europe.

"You have to look after your lifestyle outside of rugby. I am not the guy who is focussed 100% entirely on rugby. I switch off very easily," he said.

"Money takes you so far. It is not the be-all and end-all. I am not saying you (the IRFU) have to match what is being offered elsewhere. But you have to value the player."
