A 52-year-old driver who has a false insurance disc displayed when he was stopped by gardaí has been disqualified from driving for two years.

Ebo Turkson admitted driving without a driving licence or insurance and displaying a false disc at Minister’s Road, Lusk on September 9, 2021.

The court heard the defendant, with an address at Ouvanne, Daly’s Lane, Rush had no licence or valid insurance to produce when he was stopped by gardaí.

An insurance disc for a different car was displayed on the vehicle at the time.

Turkson has 23 previous convictions, including a number for road traffic offences.

Defence solicitor Fiona D’Arcy said the defendant had just bought the car at the time and had applied for his driving licence.

She said Turkson had been involved in a very serious accident some years ago which left him unable to work and asked the court to be as lenient as possible under the circumstances.

Judge Gerard Jones disqualified the defendant from driving for two years for driving with no insurance and fined him €600.

He imposed a further fine of €100 for driving with no driving licence.
