emily signs off for 'oz' in style

With both side's level on points before kick-off, it was a winner takes all contest. And the visitors rose to the challenge as they recorded a 4-0 triumph at the Temple Sportsfield in Bray.

The victory was significantly poignant for Enniskerry captain Emily Bastow and her team-mates.

It was her last appearance in a Red and White shirt as her family are emigrating to Australia.

And the skipper marked the occasion by getting on the score-sheet.

To complete the win, Luke Concannon, Paddy Redmond and Jake Combe also scored.

However, the team's success was built form the back. And goalkeeper Sean Fahey kept a staggering eight clean sheets during the campaign.

It all began last September with a 4-0 triumph over Roundwood FC at Ballyman Road. A week later, they backed it up with a 3-1 win over Greystones United C at the same venue.

Their first away victory came courtesy by seeing off Glencormac United 5-0 at Ryder's Field.

But Enniskerry suffered their only loss when going down 2-1 at home to Wolfe Tone at the start of October.

However, the Red and White's bounced back with five wins and a draw in their next six outings. And more importantly, failed to let in another goal in those matches.

A 2-0 win over St. Patrick's at the Conary Community Field was followed 1-0 home success in the reverse fixture.

Then came another 5-0 victory over Glencormac at Ballyman while Greystones were downed 12-0 at the Woodlands in their only game of last November.

In their penultimate match in the middle of December, Enniskerry played out a nil all stalemate with Roundwood at the Vartry Grounds as they failed to score for the first and only time.

After ten games, Enniskerry's record was won 8, drew once and lost once. They are also unbeaten on their travels and did not concede a single goal on the road in five outings.

In total, they scored 37 goals and let in just three. Paddy Redmond was their leading goal-scorer with a personal tally of 14.
