Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage after a van was discovered on fire in Newlands Cemetery.

The van was found in flames in the cemetery car park in Clondalkin at 9.30pm last night.

Firefighters from Tallaght Fire Station were called to the scene and managed to put out the blaze before it spread.

Dublin Fire Brigade said vans can present extra considerations for firefighters as they can be a “shed on wheels, housing a multitude of different substances”.

Gardaí said no arrests have been made at this time and no injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing.
