Tender submitted for asylum accommodation

Mid Louth Diary

Hubert Murphy

A tender has been submitted for emergency accommodation for asylum seekers in Louth.

Cllr Jim Tenany was given the information at a recent council meeting after asking how many asylum seekers were presently in mid Louth.

'We are working with people coming out of accommodation centres. They have the right to stay in the country and go on the housing list,' a council official stated.

Cllr Dolores Minogue asked if an accommodation centre was being considered for the area, would the councillors be informed. She was told it would be a national decision and they may not be informed.
