HUNKY DORYS Park on the Windmill Road, pictured, is to be turned into a medical and business campus. This clears the way for Drogheda United to move to a new stadium on a site in the town.

It is intended that the new stadium, speculated this week to be on the former Coca-Cola site in the business park, will be developed into a 3,500 all-seater ground by the club.

Vincent Hoey from the club confirmed on Tuesday that a planning application for the Hunky Dorys Park project will be handed in to the borough council within the coming week.

He said the future new stadium plan would be for 'a site within the borough'.

The confirmation that United want to move comes less than 24 hours after present manager Mick Cooke was told he would not be in the hotseat for next season. However, he intends seeing out his contract until the end of the season.
