Campbell all set for senior cap

DROGHEDA girl Megan Campbell will be hoping to impress Republic of Ireland ladies manager Sue Ronan when she makes her full senior international debut against Switzerland at Richmond Park this Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old from Fire Station Cottages in the town did previously represent her country in a behind-closeddoors game against Northern Ireland, but that was for homebased players only and this will be her first proper test at this level.

It comes as the Republic complete their preparations for European Championship qualifiers against Wales (away) and Israel (home) in midSeptember.

A good performance from Megan tonight could see her included in that squad, and if not there is still the Under-19s who have their European qualifiers the same week against Hungary, Israel and host country Portugal.

Meanwhile, Megan's club Raheny United are top of the Dublin League standings and have qualified for the Cup Final.
