Big shot McTeggart leads way
AN action-packed weekend at the Athletics Leinster Indoors Championships held in Athlone IT saw Boyne AC come away with a big haul of medals.
No stranger to the podium, Amy McTeggart got her indoor campaign off to a great start with a gold medal win in the Shot Putt and she ably followed this up with another gold in her high jump and ran well to finish fourth in her 400m.
Niamh Kelly was also in fine form on the weekend, with a silver in both her Long Jump and High Jump, and a bronze in her 60m hurdles
Tara Meier had an amazing run in her 60m hurdles and easily took the gold medal and made it a double with a gold in the U13 Long Jump.
Liene Kaugare proved a mighty force, with a new PB of 9.03m in the U13 Shot putt earning her the silver medal, while she also ran well to qualify for the final of her 60m sprint.
Harry Carolan proved that hard work and determination certainly pays off with a silver medal win in the U14 Long Jump, and was unlucky to just miss out on a final place in his 60m sprint.
Kate Kelly finished her indoor campaign with a bronze medal win in the U12 Shot Putt, while Roisin Kane ran well in the U12 600m.
Tom Cummins ran a great 60m to qualify for the finals of the U13 boys race, but was unlucky to finish just outside the medals, while Cian Reilly also ran well in his 60m sprint and Jack Carolan competed well in his Long Jump, finishing in 10th place overall.
Meanwhile, further south, the All Ireland Schools Cross-Country took place in Cork, where Eva Cummins finished in an impressive 14th place.
