Big day in pool for three Drogheda teams

A little bit of history will be made next Saturday when three Drogheda Water Polo Club teams contest Leinster finals on the same day.

A full-strength senior team take on North Dublin in the Division 2 decider, and after a rather indifferent season their confidence is high following the semi-final win against Guinness.

The Under-19s will be huge underdogs for their final against National Under-19 champions St Vincent's and the match is also notable because Alan Torris - the first graduate to come all the way through the ranks since the club's junior section was formed in 2008 - is playing his last game as a junior.

St Vincent's are also Drogheda's opposition in the Under-16 decider, where both teams will be understrength owing to a clash with the British Regional Championships in Manchester, at which Drogheda will be represented on the Irish team by Teige Kelly and Cillian Crosbie.

Plea for coach

EAST Coast Cavaliers Basketball Club has reached the capacity of its coaching resources for U-10s, U-12s and U-14s and are looking for more coaches to enable more players - particularly U-16s - to join.

The club is only in existence three weeks and yet it already boasts 60 junior members at its base in Colaiste na hInse in Laytown. Senior players are also welcome to contact the club with a view to setting up an adult team.

Please see the Cavaliers' Facebook page or contact 086-3616125 if you can help in any way.
