Woman mugged on Patrick Street

Gardai are expecting to make an arrest or arrests early this week on foot of an investigation into the robbery of an elderly woman on Patrick Street last Monday.

The woman had been in a local bank and removed a sum of money.

She was followed to her home on Patrick Street and was then robbed.

A major gardai follow up has yielded 'significant information' Supt Andrew Watters stated this week.

'We have CCTV in relation to aspects of this incident and the investigation is ongoing,' he stated.

St Peter's volunteers

St Peter's Church are seeking volunteers to act as "Welcome Guides" in St Peter's during the week of the Fleadh.

The church expects a lot of visitors from around the world for the Fleadh week to see the relic of St Oliver Plunkett.

Thousands visited the shrine last year.
