Two of Louth's most dynamic young entrepreneurs took first prizes in the regional final of Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur , winning a place in the National Finals in Google HQ on September 15th representing the North-East region.

20 year old Orla Stafford from Drogheda will represent the North East in the Best Start-Up Business category. Orla makes delicious Italian gelato in a range of flavours which she sells at her store Izmoo in Lawrence St.

Orla has just completed her first year at TU Dublin where she studies E-Commerce and Retailing. Before setting up her business, she trained in Italy in gelato making. She opened her first Izmoo gelateria in January 2018 and her second store in Rosslare last month. She also scooped an award last year at the largest Gelato trade exhibition in the world.

An entrepreneur to her fingertips, Orla is also expanding Izmoo to cater for events such as weddings. She creates bespoke flavoured Gelatos using local ingredients such the delicious Stameen apples.

Dundalk's Conor Kerley won The Best Business Idea category for his Setanta Nutrition Science. The 31 year old, who is a Doctor of Human Nutrition and Dietetic, had created a revolutionary product combines ancient wisdom with modern science to create wholefood plant-based supplements.

Conor has developed a food supplement which lowers blood sugar, inflammation and fats like cholesterol, helping to prevent and treat multiple disorders. This product can help change the lives of millions of people around the world suffering from conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure etc.

Although he's in the Best Idea Category, he has been moving his project along at a rapid pace. The prototype has been developed. Conor start clinical trials this month and is in the process of applying for a patent, and plans to launch the product within the next nine to twelve months.

Naturally, the success of Conor and Orla has resulted in great celebrations in the Local Enterprise Office in Louth.
