Drug-related intimidation behaviour in the Drogheda and Mid Louth areas sparked a series of raids last week under Operation Stratus.

The gardai launched the Operation last year as part of a dedicated approach to tacklng serious crime in the area.

Gardai say that the intimidation of people now includes areas like Annagassan, Dunleer, Castlebellingham and Ardee.

The raids took place early last Wednesday at locations in Drogheda. A quantity of suspected cannabis and cocaine with an approximate value of €5,000 was recovered, as well as a quantity of mobile phones.

A car was also seized for examination.

The searches and arrests were part of their ongoing investigation, and An Garda Síochána in the Louth Division and the Louth Divisional Detective and Operational Uniform Units took part.

The team was supported by one unit of the Emergency Response Unit and two units of the Regional Armed Support Units, in addition to the Garda Dog Unit.

A total of four residential properties were searched and as a result two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations.
