Seapoint gets a first green flag
Seapoint became the first beach in Co Louth to be awarded a Green Coast Flag, the Termonfeckin beauty spot recognised for having perfect water quality over the last 30 years of testing.
The award was made by An Taisce and at European level. Cllr Oliver Tully said the award was just reward for all those that help to keep Seapoint in such great condition, the community as a whole, the community development group, the rotary club, the likes of volunteer Joan Conaghy, the local schools and others.
'It is a real team effort and this is a reward for all those that play their part in helping with the beach plan,' the councillor stated.
€120,000 is to be spent in the car park area to further enhance the appeal of Seapoint and an information sign will outline its many virtues.
The lights will also be upgraded as part of the Town and Village Renewal scheme.
