Residents cheat death in firebomb attack on home
Gardai are continuing their investigations into a firebomb attack on a home in Rathmullen at 5.10am last Tuesday.
It is believed a petrol bomb was thrown through a window and it caused considerable damage to the house, burning out both the downstairs and upstairs of the home.
Two people were in the property at the time and one of them had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
A family next door also had to be evacuated as there were fears that the blaze would catch hold of their home also. However, the quick action of two fire crews from Drogheda and one from Dunleer prevented that.
A person described as wearing dark clothing was seen running from the area at the time of the incident. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Rathmullen Park between 4:30am - 6am, who may have seen any suspicious activity to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111. They are also appealing for anyone involved in milk deliveries, bin collections etc. who may have been working in the area to come forward.
