A hero rescurer has been praised after they entered the river Boyne at Dominick's Bridge to pull a woman from the water.

The incident occurred last Wednesday, just after 11.20pm.

The Boyne Fishermens Rescue and Recovery Service reported that they were called to the scene and on arrival, found that a member of the public who was in the area at the time had entered the water after the casualty and retrieved the woman.

'While on scene with Drogheda Gardai, The BFRRS crew then dealt with the casualty until the handover to the NAS on their arrival. Well done to the brave actions of the member of the public,' they stated.

Meanwhile, on Thursday last, the BFRRS were alerted to a car in the water at the Fishmeal Factory in Mornington. They rushed to the scene and commenced a dive to see if persons were inside the vehicle.

With the help of GT Recovery, the fully submerged car was removed from the water. Laytown Gardai and the Drogheda Coast Guard Unit also assisted.
