Moneymore kids have kind hearts
Youngsters donate presents to those in hospital
While many were tucking in to some tasty Christmas treats, the children of Moneymore decided that their selection boxes deserved a better home - the 5th floor of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
So, off they went as a group and made the presentation to the staff so that less fortunate children could enjoy an extra special gift over the festive period.
'They did it off their own bat. They wanted to do something for other young people. They are incredible kids,' Liam O'Keeffe stated.
The children involved are part of the Homework Club and it was while attending classes that the group told the organisers that they wanted to do something special this Christmas.
'They came up with the idea and we organised to meet the staff on the 5th floor,' Liam explained.
The homework club is under the umbrella of the Boomerang Youth Centre.
The kids are aged 9-14 and as well as helping with their homework, they have drama classes in Ballymakenny school.
Liam has been involved for five years with the group.
'It's all about sharing and giving in the community and it is a wonderful resource to have in Moneymore,' he said.
