Man in court charged in connection with alleged €1m drugs haul
A 26-year-old man charged in connection with an alleged €1 million drugs haul has appeared before Drogheda Court.
Andrew Irwin, Broadford Crescent, Ballinteer, Dublin 16, is facing six charges arising out of an incident alleged to have occurred at Newtown Knockaleva, Collon, Co. Louth, on 27 September, 2018.
He is accused of possession of cannabis for sale or supply, possession of cannabis herb for sale or supply, possession of cocaine for sale or supply and possession of cocaine for sale or supply with a value of more than €13,000.
He is also charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and unlawful possession of cannabis herb.
Judge Coughlan heard the drugs are valued €1 million, and that the DPP has directed a trial on indictment.
The judge said he wanted strict bail conditions applied.
Sgt Ray Brady pointed out the defendant is already on 'stringent' bail conditions which he has complied with.
The case was adjourned to 10 May, 2019 for a book of evidence.
