Staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital have been informed of major changes in the hospital set up following the COVID-19 outbreak.
They were informed that there is only one COVID-19 patient presently in the hospital, but recent weeks has seen a big increase in people attending with other illnesses.
In thanking the staff for their hard work, they say that the focus must now be on non COVID activity, although accepting that it may surge again.
The ED area has been reconfigured from this week to meet new demands.
In the coming months, the whole area at the front of the hospital will be revamped to give a larger entrance area and a separate entrance for out patients.
There will be a large extension to the laboratory to facilitate continuous COVID testing.
The coffee shop area will be moved as a result of the changes.
