DROGHEDA LIONS' Club sent five local local guests on a week-long holiday in Trabolgan, Co. Cork.

They joined more than 500 guests from all over the country at the annual Lions' Holiday.

This is the 34th year of the annual project for people who would otherwise not enjoy a vacation and it is supported by 38 Lions Clubs from all over Ireland.

'The Holiday Project was initiated in 1981 and over the years Lions Clubs have hosted an annual holiday for many thousands of guests, many of whom are senior citizens with additional needs,' says Project Leader Donal Browning.

'The project is funded by Lions Clubs throughout the country, and in accordance with Lions International ethics, all funds raised go directly to this and other service projects, with Lions members taking responsibility for all administration costs.'

Guests are transported by their host clubs and spend an activity-packed week in the holiday village where they have the opportunity of participating in competitions, games and coach tours.

The programme includes Aqua Aerobics, Bowling, a Walking Challenge, a 'Ladies Ascot Day' and a 'Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother' competition.
