Great job done on Harty's Cottage

Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council Paul Bell visited the Harty's Cottage on Crushrod Avenue on Christmas Eve to inspect the recently completed thatching of the roof of the heritage building which he campaigned for over three years to save from dereliction.

"What a wonderful piece of craftsmanship, it is stunning and lends itself to be an asset to the local community and our town. I am delighted that my effort and the commitment of Louth County Council to save the cottage has been absolutely proven to be worthwhile. I would like to thank those who supported me in delivering this project and I look forward to completing similar works on the thatch cottage on Donore Road in the new year" said Bell.

Councillor Bell also confirmed that Harty's Cottage will be white washed as soon as it is possible and that there is also some consideration ongoing as to what the building may be used for.
